The Blood Test

The term our focus has been on recounting people, places and experiences in our life. In the book, we read this term ( 'Boy' by Roald Dahl) he had written a story about being dunked in a cold bath. We have used this as our model. Here is my recount of an event I remember from my past.

The Blood Test...
Image result for clipart needleI had never ever been so scared, nervous, terrified and excited all at once. I was in the very full blood test waiting room. We were like a tin of sardines, packed full to the brim, not everyone being able to sit down. I could feel my racing heart, climbing up my throat about to jump out of my mouth. I was number 12. Suddenly the nurse came out and said “Number 12 please.” I wasn’t sniffing an onion but still my eyes were to tearing up.

Walking into the cupboard-like room, I could hear my heart pounding and the person in the other room cringing . Shaking, I sat down on the supposedly comfy chair and the old bag of a nurse squeezed that band around my arm. “ Could you pull it any tighter?” I thought to myself. The nurse exclaimed to my Mum, “ I’m going to take three tubes of blood is that ok?:”  “No!” I thought. “ Yea sure that's fine” my mum states. Astonished, I scowl at my Mum like an annoyed cat. The nurse said “ It’s only a little prick dear, over in a minute…”

“Holy Guacamole!” She jabbed the spiky needle into my poor arm, like my eyes were a tap, the water came rushing out. Oh! The pain, the pain. It was in there for so, so long. Honestly it was like I died, went to heaven, came back and still the needle was in there!  “And done.” Finally the wrinkled prune pulled the deadly needle out. Hallelujah! “See you next time.” She smiled. ‘Yea… Hopefully never!’

Self Reflection

๐Ÿ’œ I really liked in my story the choice of words that could make the reader ‘feel’ the pain I was in.
๐Ÿ’™My starter hooks the reader in and I have used paragraphs correctly.

๐Ÿ’”When writing a past tense story I need to work on linking words related to time.

Anzac Tagul

Today we watched a short film called Jack and Tom. It was about two friends who fought together during WW1. Here are some of the words that represent what ANZAC means to us today.

Maths Today...

In this mornings maths lesson, we learnt how to find all the prime numbers up to 100 using the sieve of Eratosthenes. A prime number is a number that can only be multiplied by 1 and itself. 1 is not a prime number because it only has itself and not another factor.
